Petronash Reads Arabic and English Invoices at 96% Accuracy

Industry - Oil and Gas

Region - Middle East, with worldwide locations

Petronash supplies engineered equipment and services for oil, gas and water operations, from wellsite packages and separation systems to field services, with facilities in Dubai and Chennai and a presence across the Middle East. Its accounts payable team pays 800–1,000 vendors and handles 4,000+ invoices a month in English and Arabic. Invoices come in through Outlook, SharePoint and a custom vendor portal, and post into SAP. Neil runs on Petronash's own on-premises private cloud, with no data stored outside its environment.

The Challenge

Behind a business that builds equipment for oil and gas fields sat an AP function that ran on manual work. Validating invoices, keying data into SAP MIRO and matching purchase orders all needed hands-on intervention. Manual errors in data entry and validation disrupted downstream processes, and manual handling delayed invoice clearance and payments. Volume kept rising, and the team could not handle it without growing. The invoices themselves made it harder: they came in English and Arabic, in varied structures, multiple currencies and different PO configurations.

What Petronash Wanted

Petronash set five goals: reduce human error and manual effort, speed up invoice processing, achieve near real-time postings to SAP, automate invoices in multiple languages and formats, and deploy a secure AI solution on its own premises.

The Solution

Petronash partnered with E42 and deployed Neil as an end-to-end AP solution to replace its manual workflows. Neil processes invoices in any layout without relying on static templates, and it extracts and validates both English and Arabic invoices accurately. Each invoice passes more than 20 validation layers, including PO matching, tax code validation, vendor checks and line-item reconciliation. Neil ingests invoices from Outlook, SharePoint and a custom vendor portal, and posts the data directly into SAP. Because it runs on Petronash's on-premises private cloud with no external data storage, the company keeps full control and compliance.
